Open a CSV file online

Read a CSV as a proper table instead of a wall of commas: the separator is detected, headers stay pinned, and one search box covers every cell.

How it works

  1. 01

    Drop the CSV

A .csv, .tsv, or .txt export opens straight away. Comma, semicolon, tab, and pipe separators are detected, so a European export does not land in one column.

  2. 02

    Read it as a table

Column letters and row numbers stay pinned while you scroll, and long files load in pages so scrolling stays smooth.

  3. 03

    Search every cell

Type a value and jump between matches, with the cell address of each. Useful for finding one order or one customer in a long export.

Double-clicking a CSV opens it in Excel, which then quietly changes it: leading zeros vanish from ids and zip codes, long numbers turn into 1.23E+15, and anything that looks like a date becomes one. Save it again and the damage is in the file. This viewer only reads. It shows every value exactly as written, never modifies the file, and does it without uploading a customer list to someone else's server.

What Excel changes and this viewer does not

Leading zeros
00742 stays 00742. Excel reads it as the number 742 and drops the zeros on display and on save.
Long numbers
A 16-digit card or account number stays whole. Excel keeps 15 significant digits and shows the rest as zeros in scientific notation.
Things that look like dates
1-2 and MARCH1 stay text. Excel turns them into dates, the reason gene names and part codes get corrupted in spreadsheets.
The separator
A semicolon file opens in columns. Excel splits on your system's list separator only, so a file from another country often opens as one column.

Common questions

How do I open a CSV file without Excel?
Drop it onto the viewer above. It is read in your browser and shown as a table with sheet-style column letters, so you can read it on any computer or phone without Office.
How do I view a large CSV file?
The viewer loads up to 20,000 rows and 256 columns and shows them in pages of a few hundred rows, so a big export opens without freezing the tab. Search covers all loaded rows.
Why does my CSV open in one column in Excel?
The file uses a different separator than your system expects, usually semicolons versus commas. The viewer detects the separator from the file itself, so it opens in columns either way.
Can I edit the CSV here?
No, on purpose: the viewer can never change the file. To fix separators or quoting use Text to CSV, and to get a workbook use Text to Excel.
Is the file uploaded?
No. The CSV is parsed by JavaScript in your tab and never sent anywhere, which matters for exports full of customer or payroll data.
